This page describes how consumers opt in to receive text messages from businesses that use the RexRuby platform. RexRuby powers two AI agents — Rex (inbound booking) and Ruby (retention & follow-up) — on behalf of service businesses across the United States.

How Consumers Opt In
Consumers provide consent to receive text messages from a RexRuby-powered business through one or more of the following clearly documented mechanisms. Consent is always obtained before any messages are sent.
When a consumer sends the first text message to a business's RexRuby-powered phone number, they are initiating a conversation. Rex (the AI booking agent) replies to assist with their inquiry. On first contact, Rex sends an automatic disclosure so the consumer can provide express consent to continue receiving messages.
On first contact, Rex sends an automatic disclosure message:
This method applies to: appointment inquiries, service questions, scheduling requests, and any other consumer-initiated SMS conversation.
Businesses collect prior express written consent from their clients through intake forms, booking forms, or website sign-up forms. This consent authorizes the business to send appointment reminders, follow-up messages, retention outreach, and promotional messages via RexRuby's platform.
The following consent checkbox language is required on all forms:
This consent checkbox is embedded in: booking forms on business websites, RexRuby webchat widgets, client intake forms (online and in-person), and the RexRuby onboarding flow for business owners. The checkbox is not pre-checked — the consumer must affirmatively check it.
When clients visit a business in person, they may provide their phone number and SMS consent through paper intake forms or tablet-based check-in that includes the same written consent language and checkbox shown above. The business is required to collect signed or checked written acknowledgment and to record the consent in their client management system. RexRuby provides TCPA consent logging tools in the dashboard to help businesses maintain compliance records.
Consumers who have previously opted out may re-subscribe by texting START to the business's RexRuby number. Upon receiving START, the system sends a confirmation:
Message Types & Frequency
Maximum message frequency: 8 messages per month per business. Consumers will never receive more than this limit from a single business through the RexRuby platform.
How to Opt Out
Consumers can opt out at any time using any of the following methods:
